ParCoreLab's postdoctoral researcher Dr. Aditya Sasongko's PhD thesis has been featured in the latest issue of HiPEAC magazine. This is a huge accomplishment and a proud moment for our lab! The HiPEAC magazine is a leading publication in the field of computer architecture and systems, making this feature a significant achievement for Aditya.

The 1st ParCoreLab Workshop took place on January 6th, 2023 bringing together all of the lab members ranging from post-doctoral researchers to undergraduate students. The workshop featured presentations and discussions on a wide range of topics related to HPC, such as simulation, modeling, data analysis, and optimization techniques.

Assoc. Prof. Didem Unat received “2021 Scientist of the Year – Young Scientist Awards” by Bilim Kahramanları Derneği for her outstanding contributions to science and its dissemination across the country!

ACM SIGHPC Emerging Woman Leader in Technical Computing Award, given to mid-career women scientists in the technical and high performance computing communities, at the SuperComputing Conference on November 17, 2022.  The ACM SIGHPC award is the recognition of Unat’s innovative work in the field of designing programming abstractions and tools for data locality in High Performance and Scientific Computing, as well as her leadership role in the international HPC community.  From our lab, postdoctoral researcher Aditya Sasongko and MSc student Ismayil Ismayilov accompanied Assoc. Prof. Unat and participated in the workshops. 

Erhan Tezcan, a recent M.Sc. alumni of Dr. Didem Unat, received SBAC-PAD 2022 Best Paper Award with his paper "Mixed and Multi-Precision SpMV for GPUs with Row-wise Precision Selection." Tezcan also presented his research at the SBAC-PAD’22 IEEE 34th International Symposium on Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing on November 3, 2022. 

Assoc. Prof. Didem Unat appeared on the cover page of TUBITAK’s monthly bulletin, BIDEB, as the first researcher in Computer Science to receive ERC Starting Grant from Türkiye. She was interviewed to discuss her experiences in grant application process. You can read the full interview here.

On October 17, 2022 Assoc. Prof. Didem Unat delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the European Girls' Olympiads in Informatics (EGOI) 2022 organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TUBITAK. Her speech to inspire young women in science is available here.

Koç University received the Most Successful Institution Award in Türkiye within the scope of “Horizon 2020”, the world's largest innovation and research program. The SparCity project, carried out by Dr. Didem Unat, was among the most successful projects by bringing coordinatorship to Türkiye.

Muhammad Aditya Sasongko successfully defended his thesis and obtained his Ph.D. Dr. Sasongko's thesis title was Precise Event Sampling: In-depth Analysis and Sampling-based Profiling Tools for Data Locality.
